During the 1980's, Jankel produced many hundreds of coach built limousines based on Rolls Royce, Bentley, Mercedes, Jaguar and Range Rover vehicles. The period of 1983 - 1989 saw Jankel produce 127 Rolls Royce Silver Spur II Limousines for the Rolls Royce factory as exclusive sub-contractor.
During the 1980's and 1990's, in response to clients’ requirements, Jankel began to produce highly bespoke armoured limousines for Heads of State around the world. These vehicles took the form of armoured luxury saloons (sedans) and extended and raised roof armoured vehicles. Between 1983 and 1989, Jankel were the exclusive sub-contractors to Rolls Royce Motor Cars for the Silver Spur 44” extended limousine. During this contract Jankel built approximately 130 extended vehicles.
Other projects around this time included the Jankel Gold Label and Tempest sport cars, the latter holding the 1992 Guinness World Record of 0-60 mph timing at 3.89 seconds.
In 1995 Jankel began development of a family of armoured Law Enforcement vehicles based on heavy duty General Motors and Ford 4 x 4 truck chassis. This family of vehicles now has 5 variants which all are fully proven and in service with the UK Ministry of Defence, Metropolitan Police and other Law Enforcement Agencies worldwide.
In response to a heightening in security concerns worldwide, Jankel have responded by developing low cost, short-production-time armoured Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles for personnel protection roles in the more volatile areas of the world.
In 2000, Jankel embarked on a relationship with King Abdullah II Design & Development Bureau (KADDB) of Jordan, which saw a number of collaborative vehicle development projects undertaken designed to enable production in Jordan.
2002 saw Jankel begin the volume production of low cost armoured Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles for Governments and NGOs worldwide with the armour design independently audited by internationally recognised experts. Jankel have secured multiple Long Term Supply Agreements with various united nations and government agencies.
In 2003, the relationship with KADDB in Jordan had matured to the point where a full joint venture was formed to produce Jankel products in Jordan and supply them into the domestic and export markets.
The production facility in Jordan now produces large numbers of armoured Toyota Land Cruisers for a wide variety of customers around the world. The production option in Jordan offers the customer the opportunity to procure UK engineered armoured vehicles, built in a low labour cost country, using the highest quality materials and components available.
The production facility in Jordan offers not only newly built vehicles, but also regional support, repair and refurbishment and through life support of vehicles, irrespective of the manufacturer.
Over recent years Jankel have designed, developed and produced special vehicles and survivability systems to fulfil urgent operational requirements for UK and NATO forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A combination of testing, simulation and in-theatre experience has greatly enhanced Jankel’s know-how and expertise in Blast Protection and Ballistic Systems. Jankel have also become subject experts in Blast Attenuation Seat Technology, offering a range of specialist seats for light, medium and heavy vehicles; many patents are pending.
