Jankel Celebrating 60 Years of Innovation

In 1955 Robert Jankel followed his love for sports cars rebuilding and customising his first vehicle, a wrecked Austin 7, out of his Chiswick, West London. This successful project made Robert turn his passion into a business and in 1972 Panther Westwinds was born. Focussing on production of luxury sport cars, including the Panther De Ville and the Panther 6, up until 1979. The company then diversified and in the early 1980s became exclusive subcontractor to Rolls Royce Motor Cars, supplying coach built limousines and discretely armoured saloons into government and commercial customers worldwide.
More recently Jankel has evolved to supply armoured and tactical vehicles, and survivability solutions, to internal security forces, police forces, military, government agencies and NGO customers worldwide. Mike Mullen, Managing Director, said "It's been an extraordinary change from 60 years ago when Robert started building vehicles. That is where the business all started, where he was an entrepreneur and an innovator and a very clever engineer. When you combine all those things together, you get a very creative business which is what he started."
